With the help of a special hologram machine or whatever, you make a solid hologram of yourself, split your party in two, and take separate paths where you can switch between the real you and the hologram at any time. You then have to solve puzzles requiring two people to work together, all while fighting trainers with your two parties. At the end, you meet up again before moving on to the gym leader.
