You're gonna need to sort out who they were as people in general honestly. The Game MCs are pretty much all blank slates outside of Red/Gold. You have a lot of freedom to define them and do interesting things with them.
My version of Adult Serena is curt and emotionally distant, a consequence of the fact she pushed away her friend group in the pursuit of defeating Diantha.

My main fic, Trying Something New, technically has a crossover as one of its arcs! During my adaption of the Mirror World Episode, Ash ends up in the game version of Kalos and meets Game!Serena, who is older and a champion of the region. The two end up becoming friends and Ash learns an important lesson about his journey from the mistakes she made herself.
I put together this little character blurb for her!
