Instead of having to take the time to make sure there aren't any broken combinations within 900+ pokemon, alternate forms, and items and abilities, they can spend more time and have more creative freedom with the narrative and environment in the main games; all while appeasing the competitive players, collectors, and long time fans of the series who've been passionate about pokemon for over a decade
Shifting battling with any pokemon up to HOME would also allow each pokemon game to have its own distinct meta, with the unique pool of pokemon in each going forward
If they decide not to put battling in HOME, or at least something fun and entertaining to do with our old pokemon, well that just fucking sucks, and I'd be at a total loss on how they could make such an incompetent decision lol
