I played pokemon since the very first games but I never really paid attention to IVs, EVs, and pretty much anything that could help me play competitively. I want to take on the battle tree but I'm getting my ass kicked (unlike in other versions in which I did fine with my story teams), what should I do? Which pokemon, types, items and skills should I prioritize? Are Do you have any general advice to give? And should I catch the Ultra Beasts before trying to do anything in the battle tree or will they be useless?
