Anime, video games, manga, pretty much the entirety of the Pokemon universe shows that Pokemon are meant to be treated in a manner that they want to be treated. Some Gardevoirs would prefer to be treated as servants, some would prefer to be treated as equals. I'd have the capability to see either perspective.
