>>37264237M21 Ash is personally what I feel is his current best iteration of him as a skilled Trainer. He's out there having fun battling, doing new things and being enthusiastic and emotive but when things get serious Chad Ketchum appears and acts like the veteran Trainer we expect of him. He's a perfect blend of XY/SM Ash, all they would need to do is turn down the "Pokemon Power" part of M21 Ash and he'd be perfect.
All of his interactions with Lisa were great and it reminded me of him and Misty to some degree.
