if you didn't think there's value in training and breeding your own pokemon, you would simply stick to showdown where it's fast and completely hassle free
you do it in the actual games because you feel that there's intrinsic value in having perfect pokemon with rare stickers, but as this becomes more widespread there won't be any value and it'll be the same as Showdown.
I don't know how to explain it even simpler.
You have retail and you have showdown, you claim showdown caters to you better than retail, but then you turn around and stay on retail while trying to turn it into showdown.
