As for the question at hand, I myself prefer on-model. I personally find most off models to be... completely disgusting, desu, but that is my taste and I don't expect everyone else to have the same taste, so I'm find with it, I'll just never be into it myself.
That said, I'm okay with some artistic licenses, and it is hard for me to pin down the exact point where I go from "this is cool" to "yuck, no thanks."
