The megas ended up being a wet fart whose discussion mostly boiled down to making fun of feraligatr and starmie, I'm not convinced people even know Pokemon like Chandelure & Barbaracle got megas.
As for being a PLA sequel, I don't think I need to explain how it fails at being that.
