This is sort of an homage to KANTOOOOOO being the inspiration for BW's dex.
Each of these blocks had distinct gimmicks that were expanded upon throughout the block, until the next block introduced a stronger gimmick to flesh out. The first set within the block introduced a strong enough gimmick that people had to buy in
130 HP big basic legends, EX, and ACE SPEC/Team Plasma cards, the second block built onto the gimmick or countered it outright
Pokemon Catcher fucked anything that liked bench support, Darkrai/Dark Patch resist and easily play Mewtwo, and more ACE SPECs/TDK lol, and the third set tells balance and the rest of your collection to fuck itself and power creeps the game as much as possible to push sales
N/Eviolite, Rayquaza, and fucking Vir/Gen and its ACE SPECs.
