He used additional solder which makes for a more lasting connection, some places will just reheat the 20 year old solder which only works for a short while. The Game Boy is 20+ years and still works fine besides Select being a little harder to press. It’s amazing the quality Nintendo put into these machines, I dropped this thing countless times back in the day and it held together even now.
