Honestly I think the 70 Pokemon thing is likely. Is it a bad thing though? I'm not entirely sure. It seems like they were focusing on new mechanics and improving the series than making new Pokemon. I'd imagine they had few Pokemon from the start, decided it would upset people, and created Mega evos to give some love to older Pokemon. To the people who doubt the 70 pokemon thing, ask yourself this, why is it that in 2 days the game has been out, only a few new Pokemon have been leaked? People have reportedly seen TONS of Pokemon, they're really throwing them out there, but the new Pokemon are abysmal.
