>>52944106that's the whole issue with fairy type, yaknow? it's not a part of the world, it's "the type made to nerf dragons". but what IS fairy type, exactly?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TN25ghkfgQAfact is, every idea that fairy type could represent is already occupied by another type. does it represent nature? that's more of a grass thing. tricksters? dark type's domain*, to the point that there isn't a single dark-type attack without some secondary effect. some fairy moves are associated with the moon, but cosmic energy is firmly a psychic type thing. so is magic, for that matter. literal fairies? well, yeah, i guess, but there are a lot of fairy types that are not that. side note, the fact that I've just listed five different possible inspirations for the fairy type shows just how disjointed the type truly is.
many people hit a roadblock when trying to rebalance fairy type because they want to stay in line with the type's theming. but there is no theming to adhere to. fairy type...is nothing. the reason pokemon are fairy type is because they are fairies, and they are fairies because they are fairy type.
and if you still don't believe me, then ask yourself a few questions. why is Azumarill fairy type? why is Togepi fairy type? why is Ribombee fairy type? why are the Tapus fairy type? and why ISN'T Zoroark fairy type? and then compare your answers to all of these questions.
*I've heard a lot of people say that dark type is a more malicious form of deceit than fairy type, but I don't buy it. firstly because there are many "evil" fairy types that aren't dark type, and secondly because the fae of old are absolutely malicious and something to be feared.
