Really good actually, he's a beast against fire defenders such as flareon and arcanine sine he resists their fire attacks while having super effective attacks against them.
He'll get destroyed by any grass attack very easily but if your opponent uses a vaporeon against him having mudslap instead of water gun is a benefit since it well hit for normal damage instead of reduced damage.
