Well, what if Mewtwo has two version-exclusive formes? For example, Yvetal and Xerneas have their own unique Mega Stone that can only work with Mewtwo. Once you capture either one, you also get their corresponding Mega Stone and can use it on Mewtwo at any time. Kind of farfetched, I know, but it's something to think about (they did say that there were still plenty of Mega evolutions to reveal next month). And honestly, I wouldn't put it past them at this point.
