I mean the hands on Beltigre or whatever they're calling him now could be smaller, but it's a nice way of fucking with the fire/fighting theme by making a Heel wrestler who's dark type.
At the same time if Beltigre had smaller hands he'd look weird.
Sure everyone wants a lithe quadruped stater, because it hasn't been done before, but it looks to me like they're doing the Fighter/Mage/Thief motif of really early RPGs again, hence the thematics on the final evos while the base forms seem like they'd make a different end result.
Example being if Litten became the lithe thief figure of the group, Rowlet could be the Mage, and Pop could be the Fighter, but then you get stuck with a Mage owl with an incredibly non-magical typing to back it up.
So I can see where Game Freak is coming from. though I'm not ENTIRELY a big fan of Beltigre's design, I can agree with the basis.
