Z-moves on there own are not a bad idea, but they have an inherite flaw that should've been seen from far away: it makes strong pokemon even stronger while weak pokemon only slightly better, but no way near the same level as dominating forces such as Volcarona or Salamence. Yes, Meges were mostly dictated by popularity, those mons that really got them and desperately needed a boost received it, thing such as Mawile, Sableye, Beedrill, Lopunny, Altaria, Manectric, mons you would never think could ever be meta or even good enough to hold there weigh with the big boys have made the impossible possible. So yeah, a whole I prefer Megas over Z-moves by a long shot. It's nice to have both, but if ones of them ever returns, I'll take the Megas.
