A good example is Orre, they say it's based on Arizona, but people mostly put that region in Japan. And it's fairly accepted.
It's easy to assume that Unova is located in China, it fits on the map very well. As for Kalos being in England it sounds more plausible than France and the tower looks more like Blackpool Tower than Eiffel Tower.
