They chase each other, but it's a short chase. It immediately comes to a stop when Froakie activates the emergency button.

You're swamped by the liquid, and initially find trouble with swimming and preserving your air. You start flailing like a retard trying to get up to the top of the dungeon.
In the end, the combined efforts of Miss and Froakie help you re-surface.
Looking into the water, you can see an unconscious Roserade and a Froakie clone, the clone disperses into bubbles now that his job is done.
