It's a terrible day for rain. I'm kind of impressed that they had the guts to go through with the Stoutland dying as viscerally as it did. I figured they'd spirit it away to a Pokemon Center never to be seen again or something. But no, even though it kind of disappears, there's no doubt about what exactly happened to it. Everyone, even Litten gets it. Magnificent use of rain to make everything colorless for a large portion of the episode as well. It really makes the reemergence of the sun and the rainbow pop all the more.
