Whether you sought it intentionally or not, the odds of encountering or hatching a shiny are the same. A shiny is not any less rare just because a person has made an effort to obtain it. Is the person who casually finds a dozen shinies any better than the person who must spend countless hours looking for them? How do you value rarity? If a man catches a dozen shiny pokemon in a playthrough while making no effort to find them, does that make his shinies more rare than the person's who looked for them intentionally?
What about natures and abilities? Couldn't you also argue that breeding for these things also makes them less "special?"
