But picking up gyms, farming nests or going dratini hunting to the pier/beach, that'd just be no fun at all if I was alone. Specially gyms, it takes forever either shut them down or train them up.
Also I've been in one of the mall events and there is no fucking way in hell any of the people playing alone would go there, and boy oh boy expect legendaries to be in one of those which will surely be crowded.
No, you don't play this game to make friends, but it's just designed in a way it's far better with them. And building community seems to be a priority of Niantic by being so ambiguous with their mechanics and secrets, and you can bet they are still going to push that aspect of the game if any meaningful event or rework of the mechanics happen.
