>>21976212There's a Charmander blocked off by a tree; maybe I'll just say fuck it and use all three Kanto starters. I'd just need Pikachu and Snorlax and I can have Red's team.
There are some Team Darkness goons in Highland Town fucking with the populace looking for Orbs, and if we go east of there we get attacked by two of them.
After defeating them, the Captain attacks us with a Lv. 37 Steelix. It's an obvious hopeless battle that you're meant to lose, and when you lose you're given a cutscene instead of whiting out.
But I'm the kind of guy who needs to see the results of everything, so I RNG'd a victory just to see.
Isn't Generation II the first Generation in which the AI has PP instead of an infinite number of moves? I thought it was, but I'm not so sure anymore. Steelix only used Rock Throw, Iron Tail, and Strength, with a max of 72 PP between the three moves if they're all maxed out; however, I ended up struggling trying to get it to struggle since I couldn't hurt it with my 30 Quick Attacks even though it was at -6 Defense. I had 115 total PP on my Eevee. I only won because Struggle deals typeless damage so I could get past it being Steel. Miksy91 really tried her damndest to make that battle unwinnable by normal means. If you beat him he shouts out "Impossible! You weren't supposed to win!" and attacks me directly with Steelix to incapacitate me and run the cutscene.
He explains to my barely conscious self that he joined Team Darkness a year or so ago, and he's been looking for the Orbs here when he found Professor Oak. Oak blabbed that CITF and I were looking for them, so they tracked me down to take me out of the game.
Fortunately, CITF hid when he saw trouble coming, so after the fight he was able to take me to a doctor and after a week of recovery I'm healthy enough to continue.
