Genshin is a good analog for how a good pokemon game should work. It may be gacha trash but the world is top tier. There's actual shit to find in it, you can spend hours mindlessly exploring shit and it's actually fun. The characters aren't just titties with fancy attacks as most gacha, some can directly change how you interact with the environment. Jets of air that propel you upward, a short range teleport, freezing water to walk across it, or using fire to solve puzzles. Really if you just pretend the characters you swap between in Genshin are pokemon you can really see how it works. Pokemon has the funding and potential to blow this out of the water. There's a tier of exploration only it could accomplish and that's why it's current state is such a letdown. These could be the literal best game in the world if the people making it gave a fuck, but as of now it's barely worth keeping track of anymore.
