>>54157931I read both Japanese and English but mainly stick to the English version of Masters. It's fine. The localization used to be surprisingly snappy and fun to read but recently it seems they've switched to someone who just directly translates. You're always going to miss out on some of the finer details that get lost in translation (Paulo being a cutting edge tryhard who calls himself 自分 like he's an imperial soldier is one of my favorite character traits that doesn't come across in English) but unless you played Pokemon in Japanese growing up then you've been dealing with a completely alternate continuity for your entire life. For me, the appeal of playing Masters in English is having a comfy low effort mobile game that makes references to decades worth of Pokemon games that I can immediately understand without thinking. I recommend playing Masters in the language you're used to playing the mainline games in and to go watch Japanese cutscenes online if you're curious about something.
