If someone is 20 now, they were around 10 when DP came out. More people in the current Pokemon fanbase have more memories with Hoenn or Sinnoh than Kanto (which is why the outcry for Sinnoh remakes has been so loud as of late).
And while there will always been that audience of normalfags who only remember Gen 1, the fact is all this Genwunners do NOT support the later games regardless of how much they push Gen 1. Gamefreak cannot sustain itself pushing out nothing but Gen 1 nostalgia after generation. The demand for Sinnoh content is there, and this same fanbase is also tired of Gen 1.
Gamefreak is focusing on the short term profit of genwunners while failing to realize if they piss of the core fanabse who actually supports release after release, Gen 8 is going to see sales lower than BW. This is probably why they're trying to hard to assure us that Gen 8 will be good, knowing their reputation is in the shitter after both USUM and LGPE basically told this 20+ fanbase that they don't matter to GF.
