I'm interested to see Corviknight's pre-evolutions. I'd love to see them use different corvids for each stage. A Jackdaw or Magpie would make for a suitably cute and visually distinct baby form, and something larger like a Rook could work as a transitional middle evo, with the added benefit of a chess/knight connection in name.
They could end up making the first form a European Blackbird, which is also a common and familiar species, but I'd personally prefer if they kept it in the crow family. Start off as a Flying or Flying/Normal little guy who collects metal and shiny things before eventually evolving into a Flying/Steel type.
