>>43323888let me tell you a story
a few years back climax uk sold off assets from their archives. this is what led to all those silent hills/oblivion psp builds and shit. along with this was that spongebob ps1 game along with diablo for ps1 and much much more.
at some point i was talking to one dude in the tcrf irc and a dev stopped the conversation to ask if im serious about buying some stuff to release it all online. i said yes and he gave me 1000 dollars to buy whatever i can, dump it, and post it online. i did that very thing, though my selection on what i could get couldnt work out the diablo set which is now missing, but regardless i got a nice collection of shit
i released everything as it was written on these discs. didnt even bother looking through them, just made sure i dumped them (without doing the redump way because nobody told me to).
move forward to near the end of last year and a buddy of mine asked me to look for some ps1 stuff in my archives. after looking in the archive of some source code related material for a cancelled sequel to a game, he asked me to look for any unreleased ps1 sdks or libcrypt.lib. turns out i had both, even though i didnt have the final compiler which to this day is still not found.
libcrypt.lib was missing for over 20 years and in many groups a holy grail. it was the protection that ps1 games used that needed manual fixing to get right. this is mainly known to be used on medievil 2 but theres others affected by it. i released it sometime in the end of 2019, libcrypt had been cracked by then so even though i had a literal holy grail of data.
it spread fast as fuck, so fast that the very same day a buddy messaged me that "dude libcrypt finally leaked" to which i explained it came from me.
since then i have not seen it used elsewhere, or done anything related to it, but the people that understood what it was doing laughed at how simple it was and how all this time it was just some basic xorg key shit
