I imagine the first 2 uses will feature negligible losses, followed by a heftier but still worthwhile exchange, ending in an exhorbitant price mostly to tempt you if you have an excess of Dream Shards. The Candy Boost events have similarly been large drains on people's stockpiles, though clearly we still have too much since they continue to offer us these opportunities to dump them en masse.
So going by how much you could dump during a candy boost, I expect each use to at least double on each subsequent use. But given the random nature of it and the fact that you're trading in quantity for value, I don't think it's going to go that crazy... But maybe something like: 1k > 2k > 4k > 10k
That would drain you of almost 120k shards for your random assortment of 28 Typed Handy Candy M. Hm, actually maybe it'll be almost double that price. The 4th exchange should probably be considered not worth it for most days.
