>Things HGSS did different:
-OST is great in general but some themes feels weak in some battles. I blame Masuda for some instruments choices and remixed parts. GB sounds is a fucking great adition but it sounds different than the original.
-Overworld tiles and graphics are a mix bag. Dragon's Den, Violet City, the entrance of Tin Tower and the Alpha Ruins puzzles looks much better in the remakes, while most routes, New Bark Town, Goldenrod City and more feels comfier and a lot better in general in the originals.
Things that HGSS did worse than GSC:
-Character designs are way worse in general compared to the originals with old Sugimori artstyle (There are exceptions, like Brock and Sabrina, though)
-The story feels forced due to the Kimono girls meddling in the middle of the journey and telling you what is going on or what you have to do instead of letting the player learn the lore or story from getting together pieces of dialog from various npcs or sign posts.
-The worst offender is probably exploration, due to Kimono girls too. Them guiding you to catch the box legendary removes the sense of mistery and reward the original games had.
All of these in my opinion .
