>>16908175Chesnaught really is a well-put together Pokemon, design-wise. It pulls in some really esoteric influences, and even if they might not be readily apparent to a casual observer they are still really interesting. The warrior theme and the gradually ripening/splitting Chesnaught elements are both quite clever. Plus he's not godawful in terms of utility either, capable of pulling some nice support tricks (though my other gen favorite, Talonflame, certainly keeps him down, he'll probably be quite at home in UU/RU).
Also it makes me laugh that the folks at Bulbapedia would quit flipping out any time you suggest he's based on anything other than a hedgehog/chestnut because THE CREATORS SAID CHESPIN IS A HEDGEHOG WE HAVE A CITATION AND A SOURCE. They could have a much more complete, accurate wiki if they didn't get so tight-arsed about take everything completely to the letter.
Most Pokemon can be and are based on more than one thing, and I'll eat every hat I own if Chesnaught wasn't partially inspired by glyptodonts.
