Nothing is ever good enough for them. They have millions of players generating billions of profit every year off IP alone and they're just not happy with it.
They can't just make a game where you walk around and catch / battle / trade Pokemon it has to be chasing this "vision" that for the vast majority of the world that is never happening even if they make shiny 4* Rayquaza spawn in the wild, let alone a 1/500 chance of some FOMO shitmon. 2016 GOmania isn't coming back.
I don't know whether it's internal or some out of touch dinosaur in a business suit is shouting "I HAVE A DREAM" and is threatening to shut down Niantic's offices if they don't do as he says.
