Unless you live in America or Africa this doesn't feel very home-like. Early pokemon literally took place in Japan (Kanto is a real prefecture) and had Japan in mind in its designs. Asians are a global majority, whites and blacks are not. To blackwash the characters so strongly feels very racist/black supremist.
The only thing that would've made this game even more American pandering is if they made a "pick your pronouns" part in spite of no third-person dialogue.
People who say these criticisms are just "edgy" or "racist" are themselves ignorant or racist.
