>>36850199Close, but not quite correct. It's true that in some variations of the canon for Digimon they don't have genders, but that's sort of viewed as not quite being correct. Mostly because there are instances prior to and after those sorts of statements where it's more or less proven wrong. Not only do they posses genders, they can lust after other Digimon and (surprisingly) even humans sometimes.
The body of a Digimon is a Digicore, a hyper advanced kernel that regulates the processes of a Digimon's body and form, and an outer shell that changes often depending on the amount of data fed into it and the type of data. The Digimon itself, for all intents and purposes, is the shell but it's memories and otherwise are stored in the core. So, to an extent, if a Digimon has clothing the clothing is SORT OF a part of that Digimon's shell. It's outer body. That being said, there are tons of cases in Digimon where clothed or armored Digimon are shown to be able to remove that clothing or armor or in some cases have it broken off of them. The armor still possesses data and is still an extension of the shell body, though. So if given willingly to another Digimon: the shell armor can act as a power up for anyone that grabs it and puts it on.
That is to say: a Digimon can remopve their clothing and they probably do have gender. But the clothing is a part of them, so you're half right. Also, Digimon is constantly all oer the place when it comes to canon or what is or isn't considered viable, so maybe it's best not to speak in such concrete terms.
