Here's my assumption:
>original Sneasels are adapted for cold climates, become Weaviles, and always live in packs
>Pokemon usually considers pack hunting behavior to be for Dark types, and they also have Ice just because of their environment
>some Sneasels opt to live alone in the mountains, and adapt to scaling cold cliffs
>lose their Dark type for Fighting as stronger solitary combatants (training in the mountains trope)
>still live in cold areas, but trade Ice for Poison to become even more self-reliant hunters
Is this basically what happened, or am I off the mark? Does anything imply which kind of Sneasel is supposed to have appeared first?
