People don't realize that this is THE pokemon game targeted at hardcore fans. Not the mainline games, not Go, but this. This is the game for the older fans that have religiously played every single gen and cared about the plot and the characters.
And at it's core, it's by far the least Pokemon game of them all. Exploration is non existent, combat is braindead even compared to spin offs, and collection has been reduced to a endless grind of chores that can only be alleviated by dumping actual money on it. It's just and empty husk of a game whose only appeal is waifus and nostalgia.
If this starts making big money say goodbye to a Pokemon game with large postgame, actual difficulty, decent multiplayer, no handholding, current-gen graphics or whatever is in your wishlist. The annual shitty mainline release will be enough to sell the toys to the children, while you're pouring your money on the new limited edition bikini Rosa. Truly the worst timeline.
