Ghosts completely counter him, but you should have someone else on the team to be prepared for that, there are Pokemon that Primeape has no business being in on, and the vast majority of them include Ghost types.
I always figured Primeape to be an inferior Infernape, but he definitely set himself apart with this little set right here.
