I can only guess the landlocked battlefield is just there for the sake of psyduck because she knows it can't swim at all. There was even a chronicles episode where despite her best efforts to get psyduck to swim, even just put its bill against water, it would freak out, and the only way it would get in the water is with a inflatable tube where it felt relaxed.
