Yeah, the design could be improved. The execution could DEFINITELY be improved. But what makes it worse is someone took a screenshot of the game and lazily drew him at an angle. Half of why he looks SO bad is because he's fucking rotated because the camera was, but the artist also didn't think to, y'know, have the goddamn thing look like it's standing on ground.

The problem is the pose is fan-traced from the game and not official art which tends to have more proper posing, and also GF kinda sucks at over-simplifying things that don't need to be SOMETIMES.
