Like I said, Ash is the same character as before. You cannot provide any solid examples as to how he's different, besides now being more competent. Serena is fucking nothing like Dawn. Dawn lost confidence at one point, but she wanted to be a performer from the start, and otherwise her personality was like Ash's. Serena is talented but insecure and tries to find herself. Brock was hardly a mentor, he just did offscreen explanations, Ash was a better battler altogether.
