Trying this again, I swear I'll actually try to finish this time. My encounters were somehow even worse than my previous runs, Normal and Bug-types fucking everywhere. I never thought I'd ever consider using a Beautifly in a Nuzlocke, but I didn't exactly have a lot of options and I've always liked the design so I said fuck it. And I regret nothing. Turns out Madam Butterfly hits like a truck, early game base 100 SpA is no joke.
Unfortunately I literally had nothing for Roxanne other than Bayleef (and I guess Stufful, although a Fighting STAB would've been nice). I also went full retard at least five times over, forgetting to buy Paralyze Heals, forgetting Cheri Berries even existed, specifically buying an X Defend and forgetting to use it, forgetting to set up Reflect again when it wore off, and forgetting Stufful resisted Rock and had priority Attack drops.
All those tools I had at my disposal, and instead I just sat there like an idiot chipping away at a Harden-boosted Nosepass with a paralyzed Bayleef's Razor Leaf hoping for a crit in between healing off the more or less 50% Rock Tomb was doing. One crit or high roll below 50% and I would've wiped, but I got more lucky than I deserved to and finally took the fucker down. Luckily I know from experience that Brawly is a joke and I've got two Flying-types, so the next Gym should be a cakewalk. Famous last words...
