I'm not sure if they wanted to lighten up Lusamine since living under a narcissistic parent may have been too dark a topic, or even just wanting the story to fit more with USUM, but Lusamine not being as evil as she was in SM messes with Lillie's arch, especially in the beginning were the PSTD from the UB's hasn't been revealed. Without knowing the context of Lusamine dismissing Lillie's fears, Lillie's being so dismissive of Lusamine doesn't make sense, and ends up making Lillie look childish or worse an ungrateful brat.
Also, Lillie's "Z-Powered form" (which was an iconic moment of self-discovery for Llllie), doesn't make sense now since iirc Lusamine doesn't force Lillie to dress like a jellyfish in the anime.
Picrel is especially terrible. Lusamine give her Pokémon the choice to evolve and it accepts, but Lillie has a problem with this, because it was "cuter" before. Essentially Anime Lillie believes that whoever is under her care should be stunted against their will to fit her own selfish desire...sound familiar. Seriously it seems like the type of thing Game Lusamine would write to make Lillie look bad.
Things vastly improved later on with the UB plotline forward, but it just seems so weird.
