I came up with a fire starter line based on red pandas, which incorporates inspiration from Zorro and a little bit of Final Fantasy Red Mage. It's part fairy type because real red pandas are complete goofballs and these Pokemon behave quite the same (making it pretty obvious for them to learn Play Rough), and the final evolution takes this concept and goes in a "cunning trickster with panache" direction. And hey, it's not like GameFreak hasn't been overly liberal with the distribution of fairy type before.
I still feel like there's a lot of touching up I could do with the designs (my biggest fear is that they might look more like cats than red pandas to some people, and it's really hard to go more in the red panda direction without compromising certain design elements), but overall I'm happy with what I've got.
