Seeing as characters are constantly being revealed around the time of related game releases, I wouldn't be surprised If we got a Pokemon character around the 12th. As a matter of fact, I'd be surprised if we DIDN'T get one.
That being said, I think it's really up in the air as far as who's got the best shot of getting revealed. I know that character relevancy doesn't matter (Ice climbers, Mr. Game & Watch, etc.) but it certainly doesn't hurt to be relevant.
>Mewtwo
Really makes sense. A lot of people were disappointed by him not being included in Brawl. His recent popularity due to his new mega-forms and his leading role in a new movie have given him a huge popularity boost. The mega-forms could easily be used as his final smash. He definitely is "relevant" again, and has a really good shot of returning.
>Jigglypuff
Not exactly as relevant as she used to be, but I'd say she has a good chance of returning simply because she's been in the previous 3 games. Not only that, but her type was recently altered to normal/fairy, which does make her slightly relevant. She's also a fan-favorite. She'll probably return but I doubt she'll be the character reveal around the 12th.
>Pokemon Trainer
Now assuming we're talking about Red, and assuming he's going to use Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Charizard again, I think he's got a good chance. He was a really awesome character. The Kanto starters are available early-on in X and Y, and were given mega-evolutions making them very relevant and popular again.
>Lucario
After Mewtwo's mega was revealed, I was certain Lucario would be getting replaced by Mewtwo, but now that Lucario has a mega-form of his own I think he's got a good chance of returning. He definitely isn't as popular as Mewtwo right now, but he's got a huge fan-following and Nintendo seems to love him. I don't think we'll get both Mewtwo AND Lucario, but I'd say they both have an equal shot.
