I was disappointed that nothing happened between Ash and Misty at the end of Johto, for instance. Yeah, yeah, I was a filthy shipperfag.Ultimately, I think what really killed it for me is the realization that 99% of those characters they met each episode would never be seen again. Like, every fucking episode closed with them smiling and waving, and acting like they've become super good friends even though they'll never be brought up again. It felt hollow. Everything felt meaningless and hollow.
