Because of how Events were treated Pre-Gen 4, we can only assume that they aren't canon, unless there were story elements involved.

Defeated Giratina, but the kicker here, is that when you do, he returns to a SEPARATE cave, for you to challenge him without the peril of the universe in danger, leading to the assumption that Dawn/Lucas COULD in-fact have caught him.
Dialga and Palkia wait patiently at Spear Tower too, and have made no recent appearances, so there's nothing to suggest that Dawn/Lucas COULDN'T have caught them.
Saved a dying child from Darkrai, but actually catching it here is disputable.
Received the Azure Flute, and caught Arceus
Maybe got Shaymin too, nobody really cared about that guy.
