>>44798898You're right. I think if there's one thing the anime has done better than most of the other Pokemon media is how it portrays Pokemon as being different individually. Ash's Pikachu would feel afraid and not want to battle, he refused to evolve because if he did just to win one battle it'd mean admitting that he'd never be strong enough to beat them as he is now. This goes for most of the Pokemon in the anime and right now the only one I can think of in special off the top of my head is Gold's Togepi.
