People shit all over Hau but he had his moments. I remember when you're on the plane/boat/whatever the fuck headed to the third or fourth island he starts cracking at the seams and you see the frustrated scared kid underneath his persona of being a really kind yes man. It was a little touch that made me like him. The problem is when they're actually paper thin and awful. Eg. Brendan/May who does nothing, the three stupid idiots from XY that all suck.
My favorite rival is probably Barry, who isn't even a dick, he's just fun. That's the issue with this new rival fucker. Nothing about him is fun. Gary is a smarmy asshole and that's FUN. Gladion is super edgy and that's FUN. Silver is fucking EVIL and that's fun too.
I want to hope this new rival is a placeholder because he's so awfully designed. He looks like a background character. But who am I kidding, he's what we're getting.
