Pokémon and humans can clearly cross-breed. It's how humanity started picking up psychic powers or learned to spar with Fighting types without getting pummelled into pulp. And let's not forget the average human's above-average resistance to pokémon attacks, being able to tank hits that should kill or seriously wound (Lillie mentioning Kukui shredding another lab cost, but he doesn't require medical aid). Such traits could only have been picked up en masse if humans have been interbreeding with pokémon since they both emerged.
