I've never disliked genies so while I'm neutral on the matter. I like being able to use Garchomp again however. Hate how Landorus-T cockblocks him every time in VGC.
Personally, I just find the selection of old Pokemon this year to be pretty shitty. People say restriction breeds creativity but way too much restriction can limit it as well. For example, look at how paltry are our choices of swift swimmers. That 90% of Alolamons are shitmons doesn't help either.
I'd say it's the early meta lull most of all. There's no real meta going on so everyone's just winging it with what's obviously good at first glance.
